I do some artwork for a local charity and I want to turn some photos into line art which I can print off, to be coloured in again using pencils and crayons etc. for those with mental disabilities.

What’s the best way to do this? I am a newbie to CS2, but i have had a bit of practice with PS7.

Filter>Stylize>Find Edges will get you most of the way there. —

Shift + Ctrl +U
then Ctrl + J
then Ctrl + I
then in your layers palette change mode to colour dodge
then go to Filter >Blur >gaussian blur
adjust the amount to suit

If you’d like to go a little further, you could lasso parts of the resulting picture and tint them.

I managed to work out what you were doing as far as here, but the next step has got me beaten. Could you please explain a little more detail?

then in your layers palette click on the little black triangle next to the word "Normal" and select "colour dodge" and your picture will now be all white.
then go to Filter >Blur >gaussian blur
adjust the Radius slider amount while looking at your pic.
