I’m working with a GIF that looks fine on one server, but when placed on another server, the FFFFFF bit gets reset to pink. Same monitor, so it isn’t a monitor issue. It isn’t transparent.

I’m baffled.

You transferred the file in ASCII mode instead of BINARY, and it is now corrupted.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, no. That would be a good solution if it had been ftp’d. However, due to security issues, it was burned to a CD and actually physically walked to the server.

Thanks though for your response.

Then it makes no sense – because the server doesn’t change the bits in the GIF, and only the monitor (and it’s profile) can control the display.

Are you viewing it on two different machines (it doesn’t sound like it, but….)? If so, then it’s just a bad display profile, as explained in the FAQ.

Actually, I think we decided that the something in the software code is actually corrupting the files. Its a new system upgrade for our product, and we haven’t gotten all the bugs out.

I do appreciate your suggestions though. Thanks, Laura
