CS2 brush tools don’t work

After using CS2 for a few months I’ve come across something that stumps me. A couple of weeks ago all the brush tools – including the clone tool, dodge & burn tools, spot healing brush tool and the regular paint brush stopped working. Everything else is fine. I can open files and adjust brightness or
contrast, saturation, etc. — but the brush type tools are dead ducks.

Thinking that somehow something had become corrupted or missing, I went ahead and re-installed CS2. No help. Same thing.

What’s up with this? Heck – I don’t want to be forced to go back to PSP. 🙂

Hi Pat,

It’s time for the three fingered salute – press ctrl, shift, and alt during startup. Click yes when it asks if you want to reset your prefs. Your brushes should be home in time for the holidays

Thanks Mike but I’ve tried that. Again just now to make sure I’d done the right keys. Nothing!

I also clicked on a tool (any tool) and went up to the top left corner and right-clicked the box beneath File & Edit and it gives me two choices – to reset the tool or to reset all tools. I’ve tried them too. Nothing.

Really weird.

Do you mean the dialog doesn’t come up offering to reset your preferences?

This sounds like a piece of Photoshop, perhaps a DLL file, is out of place or the wrong version. I’ll think about what might cause this – meantime someone else may have an idea. Also try posting to adobeforums.com . —

Yep. In fact I even tried the sliders at both ends to make sure — and then set them to 50%. Same results. Nuttin’ honey.
