Hi, I just wanted to ask if somebody has similar experience? If not, I’ll do it the standard way: do it one by one.

BTW, I wanted to see some voting statistics: how many people frequently need to remove background like me? And how many need to do it on many images?

Thanks

Hi Ron,

I do some post-processing on photos, in particular on face portraits.

I’d be inclined to think there’s no reliable way of automating this process. I think it still needs a human eye to be certain the background and foreground are correctly distinguished. Every mask will be different. Having said that, have you seen the new facial recognition technology in the higher-specced Fuji cameras? I’d imagine that it won’t be long until we see that technology evolving into software that can do exactly what youre asking, can you post a link, as I think this could be a hugely invaluable tool.

If you do find a solution to this connundrum, can you post it here,

It seems if this is going to be a project with so many portraits needing background removed you should shoot it that way in the first place using chroma-key technology. I think many commercial studios are using this now and add other backdrops digitally..

otherwise you are going to have to do each one by one as the hair colors and edges are so different on each shot.
