this has happened a few times since i began using CS, and i really don’t know where to BEGIN diagnosing this exept that: i have not installed any additional programs preceeding the preference wipes.
i will load photoshop and have to reset the color settings, reset my brush options, and reset my file/misc options. the only thing that doesn’t go wrong is- i can still apply my saved workspace setting which sets all my pallets back where i want them. and if it weren’t for being able to apply that ability easily, this preference thing would have driven me nuts a long time ago =) i figured it was finally time to have it looked at.
i do not shut my machine down often, but the preferences wipe more randomly and less frequently than my shutdowns. again, no additional programs being installed.
typical programs i run often that may have an effect on photoshop’s files: illustrator cs, indesign cs, streamline 4, type manager 4, norton systemworks (with system clean).. windows xp pro sp1 running an athlon 2600 with a gig of ram.
many thanks to aaany input.
