Have used a Kodak RFS 2035 scanner with both Win 98 and Win 2000, but cannot get it working with XP Professional. When I use the import command with photoshop it shows the scanner along with a Canon scanner also installed, but I get the message "ASPI not initallized", and then "scanner not installed." The drivers downloaded from the Kodak website don’t work, as they were not designed for XP.
The scanner is SCSI and uses an Adaptec 2040 card. Is this problem tied to the card…possibly I need a newer one, or since the scanner shows up in Device Mgr am I lacking the proper software for the Kodak. `

ASPI is easily solved; XP doesn’t come with it (actually, it didn’t with W2K either), but get it at:

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product. jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4. 70

or

Now, whether the actual scanner interface will also work, not sure. However, is it seen with Windows WIA? If so, you might can use it that way, but ASPI is needed in either case, as far as I know.

I already have wnaspi32.dll in the twain_32 file. Don’t quite understand what is involved in initializing. Photoshop indicates thare is no WIA installed, but this is something I may want to do a little more research on, as I am unfamiliar with it. I can scan negs with my Canon D2400U device, but am still frustrated at not being able to get the Kodak working as this is superior for neg scans.

Download from the link, and at least run the aspichk.exe file, that will check for proper existing ASPI installation; there’s more to it than just that one file best I remember.
