I need to correct perspective by dragging corner points of a crop rectangle. It seems to only allow horizontal and vertical changes, not perspective. The image is 8-bit not 16-bit (I am aware that perspective changes do not work with 16-bit). I have successfully made perspective changes like this on other images in the past. Any ideas anyone?

You can use the menu Edit|Tranform and choose from Free Transform or Perspective, OR… use the Control key and the corner points will free transform.

Tony,
Thanks for the tip, but the transform option is grayed out and similarly the control key action isn’t operative. This is the case with all images. I guess a re-install might put settings back to default, but I really don’t want to lose my custom actions.
Any other ideas?
Many thanks

Gary,

First, reinstall isn’t the issue. Even if you reinstalled, you wouldn’t lose your actions. They are stored separately.

The issue is, what exactly you are trying to do?

What is a crop rectangle? Are you saying that you are using the crop tool, and wanting to CROP with perspective?

If you can tell us more about what you want to do, not necessarily HOW you want to do it, more folks can chime in and help.

Peace,

I don’t know about PS 7 but in CS, once you have a "crop rectangle" drawn, a check box appears in the Options Bar called "Perspective".

Dragging on the corners of the rectangle is is a great way to correct sloping verticals (for example).

Maybe this is what Gary is trying unsuccessfully to use.

Maybe he forgot to check the little box!

Thanks for the clarification John. The same check box is in PS7, mine is on by default, but a good point.

Peace,
Tony
