Hey folks,

I have the following problem: I installed Photoshop 7.0 on my new Computer. All the installing process works fine, but when it gets to starting the software, I get an error message reading

"Unable to continue because of hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable."

Well, what I want to know is, if anyone knows a solution for this problem or at least possible reasons.

Some details about my computer: Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Windows XP Home, ATI Radeon 9600 TX (settings: 1152×864, 32 bpp), 30GB free disk space

I hope anyone can help me. Looking forward to replies.

Thanks a lot for careing,

Peter

has it ever started? if not there are no prefrences to delete, and we’ll move on, if so, reset the prefrences per the faq.

do you have the latest ati catalyst drivers? they’re up to version 4.7 and that was released on july 7, 2004.

thanks for that. i allready tried to reset the prefrences, was useless.

My driver version (for the graphiccard) is 6.14.1.6255

whats this catalyst thing and where do i find it?

well, what i don’t rerally understand is, that the software worked with my old computer which was neither up to date with drivers nor all that good from the hardware side.

www.ati.com click drivers then select your os (XP) then Graphics Drivers> then Radeon family.

I don’t know if that’ll fix it, but if you’ve never started the program on that system, there are no prefrences to delete.

how about 7.01? did you get and install the update?
