Photoshop CS upgrade version and Photoshop 5.0CT

I was wondering if Photoshop CS US upgrade version can upgrade the previously installed Traditional Chinese version Photoshop 5.0. Besides, how will the upgrade version determine the Photoshop 5.0 is "licensed" Photoshop? It was installed long time ago and I may need to find things such as product cd-key or things like that. Just would like to know how the upgrade process works. Thanks in advance.

Not sure in your case, but I recently upgraded to CS from 7. I left 7 on. during installation of the CS upgrade I was only asked to enter the serial from CS, not to enter a previous #, nor to insert the media for the previous version.

I assume the installer checks for an installed previous version first, and when that fails it will ask for the CD.
