I am running Photoshop 7.0 under Windows XP Professional and I’m encountering a problem. When I try to open a new file, or when I select anything under the File menu bar Photoshop freezes up and I have to shut down the program. Also recently I recieved an error message whenever I open up Photoshop. It says something about a scratch disk error. Sorry if that isn’t a too descriptive error message but I can’t remember what the rest was.

see this FAQ ai1983. i’m afraid it’s not good news:

Just Photoshop or the whole machine?

If Photoshop, try deleting the prefs file – Details in the FAQ.

The message you are seeing is Advisory only, not an error message of any kind. It is just telling you that Photoshop will run better if you have more than one drive and have the Windows paging file and Photoshop Scratch drive on two separate drives.

Just Photoshop or the whole machine?

It is just Photoshop. I’ll do the steps from the FAQ tomorrow morning but I’m too tired right now
