Hello…
We have a strange situation that has been affecting our systems for a while now and could never figure it out.

We have a Canon CLC 1120. It is a color copier, printer, and scanner (via fiery). We would start PS then go to import and then twain and then choose the fiery scan and then connect to the clc device. Now a fiery scan screen pops up, we could always get the preview fine. But on some machines, the scan screen simply disappears the moment you click on scan. You can repeat this over and over again….

This issue does not happen when scanning from something like MS Photo Editor (even on the problematic machines). The Win98 machines seems to be trouble-free. The problematic machines seems to be all Windows 2000 and some Windows XP machines. I have tried re-installation both PS and the fiery scan driver (in different order).

Canon support claims that since it works within MS apps, then the problem is with PS. Also since it works on some XP and not other, we are at a lost. It is becoming an issue since we are fading out all Win98 machines…

Thanks in advance….

well… after reading more posts here…. I think we may have found a solution. It seems that there are many unanswered posts regarding this issue here. So I hope that this could be of some use to others.

First of all, don’t expect much help from Canon or EFI (fiery). The issue has to do with the authentication methods of the Fiery and how it communicates with Adobe products (as seen in a previous post here). This issue ONLY affects Adobe products. However, it does not matter which user group or how much rights the user has. It doesn’t even matter who the user is. You simply have to force a re-login with the same credentials as whoever is already logged in.

To do this, create a shortcut icon in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop folder, so all users on that workstation will have access. Browse to the photoshop.exe file and click ok. So there should now be a shortcut icon linking to the application. Right click on the icon and choose properties and add the following to the command that is already there (do not remove anything that is already there, just add the line below and a space before the command) then choose save or close.

runas.exe /user:osdom\%username%

When the user double clicks it, a text window will appear asking for the users password. Once entered, a session of PS will open and you can scan from there….

I hope this helps somebody……. I also hope that somebody out there has a permanent fix for it…

I accidentally put a dummy domain name into my example. please replace "osdom" with your domain name…. or computer name (name of workstation) if not connected to a domain…

If there is a mod here, please edit it out for me thanks….
