Running XP Pro & P/S CS on SATA drive C. Have a second drive "D" also SATA. Third drive is IDE1.

When I open P/S and go to Edit/Preferences I can’t find anywhere to set my scratch disk. There is an Edit/Preferences/Plugins section where I can set my "Additional Plugins Folder". But thats it.

What did I screw up?

It’s in preferences, under scatch disks – exactly as shown in the manual and online help.

Chris — thanks for the help! In my case it is NOT under preferences, under scratch disks. Could anyone else suggest what could have happened?

If what you are reporting is true, it’s very odd. You’re saying that the correct dialog appears, but there is ONLY plug ins in that box, no option for scratch disks?

Try resetting preferences per the procedure in the FAQ.

I’ve already attempted to Edit\Preferences\General\Reset All Tools & Reset All Warning Dialogs. There are no disks listed!

Try resetting preferences.

But the only way I could see the options not showing would be disk corruption or video card driver problems.

I just loaded my copy of P/S 7.01 and my copy of Elements 2. Both of those progs list scratch disks under the Edit\Preferences BUT everytime I open 7.01 it gives me the "You are currently using…" window and asks me to sellect a scratch disk. Elements asked on the initial startup and is now happy (but I’m not!).

This is a new motherboard I’ve installed, therefor a new operating system & P/S instillation. I’m wondering if P/S can see a SATA drive?

If I uninstall to reinstall how do I make sure all of the P/S threads are out of my registry?

Ok, so let me get this right, I think what you are saying is that when you open photoshop each time it gives you the "your scratch disk is currently set to the same drive as the program" or something like that. Then when you go to preferences> scratch disk, there is no option for the additional drives in your computer. Is that correct?

Because your original post makes it sound like the actual option of picking a scratch disk is not showing up. But what I think you are saying is that it does show up, it just does not show the option of the drives which you are looking for.

Am I on target here?

I uninstalled the prog. Then deleated all P/S references I could find in the registry. I then reinstalled. The program NOW WORKS — praise be — I have scratch disks now!
