A universal appology for offensive words

In a recent exchange of what I thought was friendly banter amongst International Professionals, I have – without intending to – offended some people with my nationality specific humour.

Australian humour is probably more earthy than European humour and certainly offensive to anyone not familiar with it. Australian’s call their best friends "bastards" in conversation without offending them. Say it to a Englishman and he immediately gets offended.

Likewise Australians presume (even our Prime Minister) that anyone attempting to quell a situation with one single person is said to be "sucking up" to them. My comment of suck, suck, suck in response to another poster would have been totally acceptable to an Australian but clearly, those not familiar with Australian humour have been offended by it. For this I apologise.

Personally I think the blame lies squarely with those who started using profanity to reinforce their opinion. All I can hope is that others here begin to consider their words as carefully as I will in the future.

Voivod is probably in more kill files around the world than anyone else because of his profanity. Swearing is Internationally offensive at the best of times. Introducing profanity into a post to verbally reinforce an opinion is indicative of an insecurity in the poster’s confidence in their own ability. It is universally offensive should be avoided where ever possible…

Good Lord, Doug. What a prissy bunch of Englishmen you must know. Some I’ve met would come right back at you with "Get stuffed, you Aussie cunt". Perhaps the Poms are different, but I doubt it.

There’s a time and place for everything. A reply to or about Voivoid is the time and place for swearing.
