You might find the limitation is actually Adobe’s fault. I’ve hit the ceiling several times with HP and Epson wide format printers. To overcome it, I import the image file into Corel Draw and print from that application. It does not appear to have such limitations.
This problem is by no means measurable or consistent throughout PS userbase. Some people claim to have no limit to the print length but I have always found one.
It could be something as simple as how much RAM you have, maybe not. Maybe Microsoft should share the blame. In any case, the simple solution is to print from a different program.
