Hello

I sometimes check the Zen Garden CSS page – and not only for CSS. How do you think the "painted" or "ripped" looking borders where made in this design?:

http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=/200/200.css&page=0

Thanks

I think it was clever use of repetition and some nice design sense. But you can see a jagged edge if you look closely on the left side of the first column. (check directly to the left of the "Benefits" image)

There are 2 main columns of text for the site, each with it’s own layout;

There is a large image for the masthead, a repeating image on the left column to allow it to "stretch" (a faux column), and several images that make up the column on the right, to allow it to stretch as the text grows.

Nicely done. I’d like to know how long it took to put together.

This is easy done, just with different brushes ,opacity and hardness, erase the borders.
on a smaler selection add darker blue and optional text. again erase on this layer the borders with different brushes and hardness and opacity.
