Thank you. That site helped alot.
That site helped alot.
<nit>a lot. two words.</picked> 🙂
What, did emencz punch out and now it’s your shift?
Nice tutorial. Very nice. The flash animatics help. What I would like to see, is a flash that shows a "this is your picture before extract filter, this is your picture after… any questions?" kind of flash. So you show the before, then for example your cube, then what happens to the image after.
Probably rudamentary, but that’s what I was hoping to see in the flash movies.
Nicely done though, to be sure.
Peace,
Tony
Heres my attempt at a 3d Transform Revival <

Heathrowe, it’s nice that you try to help the community, but your site is selling pirated software!!!.
Adobe admins, please remove his links.
but your site is selling pirated software!!!.
oh yea, there is that. on adobe’s site too. heh!
you can feedback google by clicking the "ads by google" link. i wrote "pirate software. please remove from listing. also copied to "
Thanks
I even thought of that too, but obviously too late
and the pictures I have posted are experiments spanning over years.
perhaps when I do individual tutorials I will include the wireframe screenshot then the final
cheers
heathrowe
What on earth are you talking about??
heathrowe
I’m with heathrowe… what on earth are you talking about?
I don’t see any pirated software.
the google links to 59 dollar photoshop?
Thanks for the heads up
just added quite a few sites to the url filter list.
those sites have every variation and domain extension available, .biz,.us etc and toss in plural and singular ones also.
hope they will be filtered immediately.
Unfortunately, I have no control over every banner ad that shows up, but I’ll certainly filter the ones that I see questionable.
cheers

the google links to 59 dollar photoshop?
Is it PSCS or version 7?
If I am a retailer and I have purchased stock, is it against the law to sell my stock when a new version is released?
I think it’s a bit harsh to remove the link to heathrowe’s site – has anyone looked at his site in depth? What a treasure trove of professional help. The proposed "violation" is not necessarily heathrowe’s, rather, google.
<shaking head> removing his link is unwarranted in my opinion.
If I am a retailer and I have purchased stock, is it against the law to sell my stock when a new version is released?
I looked at the FAQ on their site – no packaging, no manuals.
Point conceeded. Still I think it’s a harsh accusation to say that heathrowe’s site is selling pirated software resulting in a valuable resource being removed. His site isn’t selling pirated software.
<still shaking head>
Guilty without trial!
I second all those who compliment Heathrowe on his site: it’s not often one sees such good tutorials.
(Thinks – remember when Adobe used to provide really good tutorials on the CDs?)
Don’t tell me they’ve got them on the web: it ain’t the same.
Talking of tutorials, if Adobe bundled a few of Dr Russell Brown’s Quicktime videos with PS, that would help a lot of struggling beginners!
Cheers – John
John,
Thanks for the "ditto".
Btw, were you aware of Russell Brown’s Photoshop Tips <
http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/photoshop.html> site?
I know you were saying that they should include them with PS, but I think Russell Brown sells his own CDs.
Peace,
Tony

If Heathrow manages to filter out those particular banner ads he is more than welcome to re-post his URL.
However, you can hardly think it is appropriate, on an Adobe sponsored site, to have links leading immediately to an advertisement for pirate Adobe software…
Len,
The link he posted didn’t have that. Through diligent searching of his site, I found one link on his site that had the banner ad. I’m not sure that all links that appear on this board have the entire site scrutinized to such a level.
Judgement call, and you’re the boss. Personally, I don’t agree, but that’s why they make 33 flavors of ice cream.
When I clicked on the link he posted, I immediately saw ads for pirated Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Elements. It was the first thing I saw.
I understand that he does not control the ads, but he does control the advertising space and he could choose to fill the space with more responsible adverts.
Okay, okay. For the love of man. You, of all people – the compliance police?
All I know is, the first thing I did when I saw his site was to bookmark it. It’s an exceptional resource.
If the ads are rotating and occassionally there’s an inappropriate ad there, I guess he should not be allowed to put a link to his site. I think it’s extreme, but <shrug> I’ve stopped caring at this point.
Thanks for the vote of confidence 🙂
I have spent the last few hours going over and over all my links (and as you can imagine how random google places those ads),
I have added 38 distinct urls to the google url filter list and have perasonally emailed google my concern regarding the plcement of these urls. I have emailed them in the past and got a personal (non automated) response regarding suspicious ads, so I hope they will follow through.
Not sure how long before the filtering kicks in and I can imagine there are more to follow up on.
I have done an extensive search for a list of adsense publishers, but there is none to be found.
Again , I do see the point made, taken, as I should have had those filters in place sooner.
🙂

Maybe we should stop posters from referring to Google!
Tony, I do know RB’s site. I think his best contribution to date has been Dr Brown’s Image Processor. The thing I like about Quicktime videos is I can watch them again and again. I’ve got to that age where information going in at the front seems to push it out at the back. Well something… Oh, never mind!
Cheers – John

Without a doubt.
Been roughtly 10+hours since I inserted all the url filters, and it seems that none of the offending urls appear.

Len, hope I am redeemed 🙂

It is Google that ought to be taken to task. As much as I admire a lot about their business ethics, their tacit approval of pirated software is unconscienable.
Same with Amazon, Buy.com and all the rest.
If these places are allowed to advertise with impunity as widely as they do, you know they’re making money. It gets me to thinking about how I could solve so many of my financial problems by selling my own pirated software. Shoot, I’ll even go one better and offer printed manuals for a few dollars more.
Heathrowe,
Re-post your URL.
There never was any ‘blame’ laid on you AFAI was concerned – just unfortunate that your banner service feeds those particular sites to your server.
Awesome
Thanks for clarifying that!
I’ll certainly keep a close monitor on those ads from now on 🙂
cheers
heathrowe
Heathrowe,
Please forgive me for speaking so abruptly. Now that I better understand the situation, you were the victim of circumstances outside your control.
I agree 100% with Phos on this. Google should know better.
Hey np
It certainly made me more aware of the service ads that show up from now on, thats for sure. 🙂
Up until your thread, I never really paid attention to them. Developing them (tutorials) locally I don’t have the option of seeing the ads, when uploaded I focus on proof reading them.
But now I’ll keep a close eye on it for sure.
over 40 filter urls and not one of them have re-appeared since. All seems as it should be!
🙂
happy Photoshopping
