System: Mac OS 10.4.8; PS CS2; Epson R2400.

In the Print Settings box of PS, where the choice of paper is made, there are grayed-out choices. One of these, for instance, is Velvet Fine Art. There are many other papers that I would like to access as well, but I’m at a loss as to how to accomplish that.

In a hunt around my computer, I find multiple printer/profile folders in library folders, color sync, utilities, etc., some of which have the iccs of numerous papers listed. An underlying question is, why do I have so many apparently (partially) redundant folders?

But the more pressing question is, what do I have to do to straighten out this mess and get all those papers listed as options when I go to Print?

I don’t come to this forum without doing some homework, but, so far, I haven’t found the answer. I’d appreciate direct help or a pointer to a reliable source.

The r2400 is the dumbest "intelligent" printer Epson has ever made. When you insert a (matt black) MK cartridge it allows you the option of papers only suitable for matt ink.

Change the tank to a PK (photo black) and you get the options only suitable for that ink. I suppose in the complicated world of needing as many ink colours as these things do and then four special shades of black for mono printing… You gotta expect some messing around but this is just plain stupid.

How many people print a continuous run of photos until the ink runs out and then change the paper with bottom of the range, semi Pro, "desktop" printer? Probably none. My solution is to own two of the things. Soon it might be a HP "Z" series. If I have to own 2 printers just to have the flexibility of B&W and colour in my studio, I may as well spend the extra few bucks and get ‘real’ professional printer.

Your old sparing mate Douglas MacDonald will have several R2400 Epsons for sale in a few days. He just replaced them last week with brand new, 3800 Epsons. None of them have had more than 100 sets of (genuine) ink tanks through them and the tanks are only $19.90 each at PC in Brisbane. Think about it Chrlz …you too can print canvas panos till your heart’s content. You can become an Internationally recognized Photographer too with one of these beautiful printers!

They have been used in 3 of his (secret – hidden) photo labs YOU can’t find in the phone book ( they can’t exist then huh?) for enlargements over 8×10. Printheads can be replaced in Capalaba for $300 when needed. Take your chances on this item.

$950 each with roll feeders. Minimum 50% ink levels or new carts provided. They’ll be on eBay next week. Do a search next Monday if you are interested.
You know the member, you found his wedding photography listing a few weeks ago… Bravo Chrlz! You finally learnt to use the search function. Congratulations!

Annika.

I may be missing something here. What do these responses have to do with my original question? (I’ve removed the cross-post to the added groups as irrelevant there.)
