I am currently using Photoshop 7.0. The programme is generally working fine until I try using the layer styles.

I draw a shape on a new layer then go into the ‘layer style’, I can move around this ok to start with, I click on ‘stroke’ and it then brings up the ‘fill type’ box to the right. If I then click inside the ‘colour’ box and this is where it goes wrong. Instead of bringing up a larger selection of colours it just freezes. I am able to move my curser around but unable to click on anything. I can go back to the main page when I press return twice but I am still unable to change the colour in ‘layer style’.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards.

I’m using Windows XP Home Addition with 512mb of ram. Didn’t have any other applications open at the time. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but not made any progress.

Sounds like your color picker is off-screen at your present resolution. Have you recently removed a second monitor or lowered your monitor’s resolution?

Try cranking your monitor’s resolution up to maximum in your control panels (even if you have to temporarily lowerr the number of colors that you can display) and see if you can grab the color picker window.

If that doesn’t work, try resetting your Photoshop preferences as detailed in the FAQs at the top of the Thread Index for this Forum.

Thank you so much for your help, I had recently added another monitor. I did as you said and reset my preferences and it is now working. I can’t thank you enough.

Kind Regards

Great!

Oh, that all questions here were as easily answered.

Glad you’re all fixed up.
