Did you try uninstalling Netscape? If that didn’t fix the problem, I would try reinstalling Photoshop.

I am also having the same problem. Installed Netscape 7.1, opened Photoshop which then shows some of the opening splash screen and then crashes. No error message, no nothing; just disappears! Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop on both C and D drives. Will now try goinging back to Netscape 7.0.

ken unless you’re getting the same message, you have a different problem. read the faq topic on how to reset your prefrences.

and why are you guys using netscape w/all the aoHell branded crap in it when you can run mozilla 1.4 which is the base for netscape 7.1 w/o all the junk?!!

dave,
I am not getting the c++ runtime error. However, Photoshop was running just fine for 18 months until I installed Netscape 7.1. Must be a different problem because I uninstalled Netscape 7.1 and Photoshop 7.0, rebooted, and reinstalled Photoshop and still will not run. I agree with your vivid description of AOL Netscape and have considered going to Mozilla for that very reason.

reset the prefrences per the FAQ ken.

and go for mozilla, you won’t regret it. i’ve been using it since the alpha release (0.9) and as a former netscape user myself, it’s great. you can even set the "skin" to classic netscape and never miss a beat. looks just like ns 4.8 but plays much nicer! 🙂

It appears that installation of Netscape 7.1 and the demise of my Photoshop 7 may have been coincidental. In desperation, I latched onto this forum topic. The Netscape install may have caused the problem but, who knows. Any, I finally found the tried and proven reset preferences (control-alternate-shift, at the same time) and it worked. I am back in business.
