Thanks to Clem de Silva for forwarding the following petition notice:
Proposal to Ban Public Photography?
According to newspaper reports there is a proposal to ban all public photography before a Federal Government Committee in Australia.
An online petition against this is at:
http://www.petitiononline.com/ausphoto/petition.html
Commented Keith Shipton, editor of Photo & Imaging Trade News, "The deeper issue here is the equation of "photographer equals pervert" and if we don’t push back on that there’s a real danger that timid souls will tend to ban themselves from public photography. Or we’ll get bullies or fools assuming nefarious behaviour when photo enthusiasts or tourists start snapping in public, and insist they cease and desist, or worse, get physicial about it.".
If this gets passed does it mean we’re all perverts?
