Hello,

I’m using PS 7 on Win XP. 1GB of RAM, Pentium 4, 2.66 processor. Whenever I transfer jpg images over the network and open them on another workstation with the same specs as above. It usually comes up with an error stating that the image is truncated or corrupt. However when I check the original file where it was originally scanned or saved, the image is fine.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

yes we are on 7.01. Also we run on a switch ethernet network (LAN). The file sizes are the same and yes I can open the up on a different application (ACDSee 5.0).

ACDSee will display corrupt images so it’s not the best way to determine file integrity.

If they open in Photoshop fine on the local machine, then it’s likely they’re getting corrupted in transit or there’s a problem with the HD of the other machine.

Prove it to yourself and transfer a problem file via USB or other removable media. If it goes away, then you know that it’s the network (bad cable/switch?) or the HD of the other machine.

Let us know.

Peace,
Tony

Thanks Tony. I am also suspecting the network. At least I can pass on your message to our IT guys. Also I did use a zip disk to tranfer the files from one workstation to another and they opened up without any problems.

Look back at HD’s comment about file size. If the files are smaller coming through the network, you will give the IT guys something to work with.
