Dell XPS PC , XP, Phtshp CS background screen colour

When I ‘Fit to Screen’ and then use ‘Ctrl -‘ (minus) to reduce the image the original background in the box surrounding the image was neutral. When I saved my image, the colour which happened to be in the upper of the colour choices boxes has been saved as an unasked for background to everything I subsequently do, or indeed, have done.
HOW can I restore this to neutral or WHITE….I have clicked around and can find no way. Help. Please and Thank you. J.Matcham

HHello! just Shift+click with the fill tool, as you accidentally did on your machine. I think that 192, 192, 192 is a good neutral color.

Thank you so much you can’t immagine how much time I have spent puzzling about how it happened and clicking around to find what to do about it.
When you recommend a colour…I ignorantly don’t know how to access it by number; everything I do is on a ‘need to know’ basis…and although I know quite a lot, obviously I need to know quite a lot more!

Julia, glad that I could be of any help. Just click on the foreground color patch in the toolbox, you’ll get the color picker. Enter those values in the R, G and B fields.

Now you know how to make your colleagues furious, if needed. WHAT??? a Barbie pink background? 😀

Something else learnt. Thanks again.
I had just got to the point (4 years of designing odds and ends)where I think I would’nt mind saving a reference of that particular colour rather than hack my way back to it later …I guess I can just keep a ref. of the numbers. I must read the book properly as I seem to remember one can keep colour references in a folder.
Anyway, it is really nice to be able to ask a question and get an answer from a real human being.
