Upgrading to CS3

Hi all, I have a question please:

I have previous versions of Photoshop/ Illustrator/ Indesign CS and Flash/Fireworks/Dreamweaver MX2004 and I know I can use an Upgrade version of CS3 with my versions. But….my copies of the above are not entirely mine and what I was wondering is can I upgrade without having the original licenses??

If you have a license for at least one of them that you DO own, then you can upgrade to the full CS3 suite, but it’s a little more expensive. If you don’t have ANY licenses… you don’t legally own a copy at all, and will have to pay full price.

Thanks for the reply. I have the license codes for them all but nothing else. Does that count?

That’s all you need. When you install CS3, it looks to see if you already have a legitimate copy of CS2 (or whatever you are upgrading from) already installed. I guess it will check our serial numbers against a black list (serial numbers that have been pirated), but other than that you should be good to go with an upgrade. I checked the Adobe site just now. There are upgrade discounts for all kinds of things, so you should be fine.

You also need the serial number of your version 5.

No you don’t. In Fact there is nowhere to enter the old 17 digit pre-PS7 number which is a 24 digit number.

I might be wrong, but I think you need it in order to get an unlocking code.

If you have 7 you have the 24 digit serial needed to upgrade. If you have 5 you can’t upgrade to CS3.
