In Photoshop 7, how do you move a selection–just the "marching ants"–not the material selected.

Thanks.

By hitting the m key. v key will move the selected area. m will move the selection.

No it doesn’t. Your answer is incorrect. I have Photoshop 7 with Windows. I just want to move the selection.

correction:

moving the selection this way is only possible if no other tool (especially the move tool) was chosen afterwards – you have to be still using the selection tool.

then you have to go the way via the selection menu and choose transform selection …

Possibly I didn’t understand the question. On a Mac, if you’ve made a selection, say, with the lasso, then click inside the selection, with the lasso tool still selected, and drag to select a new area. If you want to move what has been initially selected, hold down Cmd, click and drag. It can’t be that much different on a windows machine. Ctrl instead of Cmd?

not only are you unable to accomplish and find a solution to a simple problem by yourself , you are also downright obnoxious

Step 1: Choose any selection tool (the Marquee tool, the Lasso tool, or whatever.)

Step 2: Click inside the selected area and drag the selection wherever you like.

Piece of cake.
