Several of us in the office here have had this problem, all on XP, both w/ SP1 and w/out.
PS CS — when selecting or clicking into, with the type tool, the text in a text box, the text disappears. Most of these are files started on Version 7 and the opened in CS — the message about updating the type layers does appear when the file is opened. If you select to update when the file is opened, the type on the layers vanish. If you defer updating until you click in the text boxes, then get prompted and accept, then they vanish (the update seems to do it).
I’ve seen several posts in here which suggested: closing the Info tool, toggling the anti-aliasing settings, and zooming in and out — no joy on any desktops (3) or any files.
This doesn’t happen with all type layers or all text-boxes, some are fine, so there’s something about the specific settings for specific layers which is problematic. There’s some discussion here that the text box layers in question may be only layers where type was copy and pasted from external apps (so there may be some hidden characters?).
Any other things we could try would be appreciated.
