My goal is to have a vertical text menu with about 10 boxes. I’d also like to incorporate rollovers for each one. I’d like to make them with a unique font I have installed on this workstation.

Should I start with Photoshop as a table or something – then go to Imageready for the rollovers? Should I just start with Imageready?

I’d like them to be editable, as I may need to change fonts, size, position, links etc

Sorry in advance, I know the question is sort of broad. I just need a good starting point.

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

Forget about Adobe Photoshop and build the entire menu in Adobe ImageReady. It’s very easy to do and it will generate the JavaScript necessary to make the roll-overs work.

Having said that if you know JavaScript you can write much leaner code than what ImageReady generates.

You do realise that unless you include the text as an image the font changes dependent upon what the fonts the viewer has installed?

A good starting point would be Fireworks, or even better Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Personally I’d rather hand code than use IR which is a complete dog.

However, if that’s all you’ve got then do it in IR. But be prepared for it to screw up any code royally.

Three GREAT replies – thanks so much. I’m farting around with Fireworks/Dreamweaver now. Fireworks seems to want to take a simple line of text and convert it to a button first, but then it’s not re-editable (I don’t think). But I’m learning…
