Photshop Memory error

Whenever I try to run my copy of Photoshop 6.0.1, I can see a dos box open and close (flash) when I run it in a command prompt I get this error:

"Program to big to fit in memory"

a bit of info on my computer:
512mb of PC3200 memory
Intel Celeron 2.4ghz @ 2.6ghz
Windows XP Pro SP1

any help will be gratly appriciated

Sounds like something is corrupted on disk – try reinstalling Photoshop. (and check for virues, etc.)
