Hi,

I’ve made available a beta version of a plugin which can extract individual layers from PSD/PSB files. The main purpose however is to allow extraction of imagery from damaged/corrupted/truncated PSDs, because Photoshop usually refuses to open them, or at best produces a badly garbled image. This plugin tries much harder than Photoshop to extract data despite damage.

It’s also a much faster way to grab a single image layer from any PSD than opening the whole thing – especially if it’s a complex file.

Please test and send any feedback to me (support -at-
telegraphics.com.au).

The plugin is FREE (GPL), and donation is encouraged if you find it astonishingly useful.

Versions are provided for CS2/Mac, CS3/Mac, and Windows. Version for
3.0-7.0 & CS (Mac PowerPC) will be provided soon, contact me if you
need this.

Notes

The plugin may override Photoshop’s built-in PSD/PSB format reader. If you find Photoshop defaulting to this plugin, just remove it and re-launch Photoshop.

ONLY image layers are extracted (not any other layer type).

There is currently no access to layer masks, alpha channels and spot channels. This is planned to be added.
