Hello,

My goal is to produce a DVD Slideshow and show it on a 50" Plasma, 16:9 ratio. I would like the photos to be as near to full screen as possible, yet, maintaining the smallest file size for fast processing.

My question is. "Can I scale down (resample) the photos within PS without the consequence of ending up with smaller sized images shown on the TV screen?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

This biggest factor here is what program you’re using to author the DVD. Presumably you’re using some program to generate mpg (vob) files from a series of stills. How those photos are scaled, cropped or framed is entirely in the domain of that software.

The largest format for an NTSC DVD is 720×480, regardless of the aspect ratio (4×3 or 16×9), so it’s not really worth having an image that exceeds those limits–it will just be downsampled.

Actually Roxio Easy Media Creator has a nice DVD slide show program within = it resizes the images and makes the whole thing in one go.

Most DVD slide show editors have this facility.
