I work with furniture images. And I receive many images from furniture manufacturers, some with solid fabrics upholstered on them and some with patterned fabrics on them. The problem I have is that I have to remove the patterns from the images so that they appear as solids with the shadows intact. Is it possible that I can do this with PS CS or is there another program out there that can help me do this? I’m looking around but I haven’t been able to find anything yet. I would appreciate some help if possible. Thanks in advance.

I would say that creating a look of solid color fabric will be very difficult. Even a plain fabric will have many tones of the color because of lighting and sewing detail. Photoshop has very powerful tools for color replacement but it can’t automatically create new realistic detail where there was none before.

In addition to the fact that masking out the parts you don’t want it applied to would be a task in and of itself.

Maybe find the color you want to represent. Then select all the patterr colors and group. Then apply the color you would like to the pattern selection.
