I have been sent a photo although I can see it in my online mail account, I cannot download it because windows or painshop do not recognise the file format.

Does anyone know of a viwer I can download in order to view it on my computer?

There’s lots of them. Irfanview is good for Windows.

However I don’t understand why you can’t download it. You should be able to save it to disk. Try clearing your Internet Explorer cache (under Internet Options). That might help.

I’m assuming you’re downloading it from Yahoo Mail or Hotmail or similar, yes? When you "Save As" or "Save Target As", save it to a folder on your system, like My Documents. What format is that particular file in? If it’s a simple *.jpg or *.bmp, your normal software should do the trick easily. Otherwise, I’ve always like the features in something like Irfanview or ACDSee. Please post back and let us know how you go.

There’s a known issue with Windows XP and maybe other newer versions of Windows where you can’t save a graphic from the internet in anything but ..bmp if the Internet Explorer cache is too full. So go to Control Panels>Internet Options and click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section.

Or use a different browser. Almost anything is better than IE.
