Building Twain menu items ….. Never finishes USB2 card

Photo shop CS and 6
After installing a startec USB 2 card #PCI625USB21 both versions of photoshop hang up on booting with the message "Building Twain menu items….. after a half hour I give up and Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out. If I remove the card and go back to USB 1 Photoshop reloads but the microtec 1320 scanner is very slow on USB1. Any suggestions?

sounds like a driver problem. sure you have the latest correct drivers for the card?

you can find and delete the plugin’s cache/pref file to see if that helps.

you can delete the main photoshop pref file per the FAQ. That faq topic will list the folder location of the files. the plug in file will be in the same folder as the main prefs file.

Sounds like the card isn’t working, or the driver/scanner isn’t happy with that card.
