WOW!!!!!

Bet it’s a ‘starter’ pack with 50MB space and 1GB ‘traffic’, then ‘overage’ fees.

Only about 3X nearly any good competitor’s prices (for medium or ‘better’) as well!

Hell, I’m paying $4 a month for 10 gig of storage and 300 gig a month bandwidth.

Hmm how reliable is a service that cheap!?

I pay $180 per month.

I get 380Gb space and 2000 gig a month, a dedicated 100Mbit line and two permanent IP addresses, plus my box is not shared with *anyone*, so I get all of the twin 3Ghz and 1gb RAM to myself. It’s 100% reliable, as the only person who can bring it down or eat up resources is me 🙂

You get what you pay for?

I’ve used their services for over three and a half years in that time I’ve seen less than 15 minutes of downtime. They were back up from the repair/upgrade literally before I could call customer service. There’s never been a loss of data and no one I know has ever had a problem accessing my site. Other than a bit slow on the setup time for my new domain name I’ve had nothing to complain about.

If you need it, pay for it. I have no need of such massive service for my hobby site. I’ve used less than 100 megs of my 10 gigs of storage and never come close to maxing my bandwidth.

Hmmm … Power company, telephone company, … ???

You get what you pay for?

If you ‘need’ all that, then yes, if you ‘need’ less – it’s a waste of your funds.

I’m also paying around $4 a month for several sites I run, most of which are quite complex and one of which is absolutely enormous, that between them see five to six thousand unique visitors a day. I’ve been very happy witht eh service and reliability in that price range–a damn good thing, because some of these sites are commercial, not hobbyist, sites. I would not at this point pay $24 a month–especially not to a spammer.

My personal site (URL below) has been up for about eleven years now. Back then, i paid about $29 a month, because in the late 90s having a Web site was still relatively esoteric and there were fewer players in the game than there are now. But today? If I were to pay $24 a month today, I’d better be getting my own damn server! 🙂
