Hell, I’m paying $4 a month for 10 gig of storage and 300 gig a month bandwidth.
Hmm how reliable is a service that cheap!?
I’ve used their services for over three and a half years in that time I’ve seen less than 15 minutes of downtime. They were back up from the repair/upgrade literally before I could call customer service. There’s never been a loss of data and no one I know has ever had a problem accessing my site. Other than a bit slow on the setup time for my new domain name I’ve had nothing to complain about.
I’m also paying around $4 a month for several sites I run, most of which are quite complex and one of which is absolutely enormous, that between them see five to six thousand unique visitors a day. I’ve been very happy witht eh service and reliability in that price range–a damn good thing, because some of these sites are commercial, not hobbyist, sites. I would not at this point pay $24 a month–especially not to a spammer.
My personal site (URL below) has been up for about eleven years now. Back then, i paid about $29 a month, because in the late 90s having a Web site was still relatively esoteric and there were fewer players in the game than there are now. But today? If I were to pay $24 a month today, I’d better be getting my own damn server! 🙂
