Hello All
I am a photojournalist and would like to create my own website featuring my photos. I am NOT a web developer. Is there website creation software anybody here can recommend for the non-developer? I spend most of my time shooting.
Thanks.
Paul
I have been using NetObjects Fusion for years now and really like the program. It’s WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) and does not require a knowledge of html or web development. On the other hand, as you learn more about web authoring, and you will by using this intuitive program, it allows you to use as much of your own code as you like. If you’re going to be offering your work for sale, you might be interested in the Shopping Cart feature, which makes it easy to set up online ordering and payment.
There is a trial version available for free download, but the full-version program is not cheap. What you want to spend of course depends on your budget and what you want your website to accomplish.
netobjects.fusion10.gen-discussion is a newsgroup from news.netobjects.com, and you might be interested to know that group concensus is that photographers and graphic designers *always* have the best websites! Most web developers are technogeeks with no clue about attractive layouts and user interfaces, and this is often apparent in their designs.
A final suggestion… spend time looking at other photography websites. You’ll get ideas for what you want yours to look like, and you’ll discover what doesn’t work too.
