:::: Using Photoshop 7 and PageMaker 7

I’m kind of new to this game, but I am working on putting a newsletter together and want to wrap a photo around another photo which is actually an extraction of a boy on a bike, so the shape is irregular. I have no problem wrapping the text around the extracted photo, but am getting no-where trying to make another picture wrap around it. When I place the extracted photo over another picture, instead of wrapping around the irregular shape, it acts like there is still a background there. A friend of mine said he uses Photoshop 4 to do this cuz 7 is a pain, … .but I can’t believe this can’t be done in 7.

I have also tried (after extracting the part of the photo I want), when it is on the checkered background, using the Magic Wand, Select/Inverse …. Path/Make working path ………save path. I have also tried flattening the image after this and that doesn’t work either. When I go to PM 7 and CTRL^D and put the image in the document, I can then adjust text wrap to what I want it to be, and again, the text will obey, but any other pictures will not.

Frankly, I’m not really sure if this is a Photoshop issues or a PageMaker one, or both. I do know that I saw my friend do this in Photoshop 4, take it to PageMaker 7, and it worked just fine. Is this just a quirk of PhotoShop 7?????? Will CS have this trouble.

Thanks for any help,
larry

Found it!!!!!

There was one more step that I needed to do. After I made the working path and saved it, I needed to "Clip Path." Then when you take it into PageMaker, you can lay it right over the top of another photo and there will be NO white box showing behind it.

I guess I am not getting what you mean by wrapping a picture around another picture. Can you provide an example? Is this an issue in Pagemaker? Maybe a clipping path is what’s needed?

Are you talking about having the extracted image in front of the other image? Why not merge the images together in Photoshop and then bring the result into a layout program?

What makes PS 7 a pain? Anything you can do in 4 you can do in 7 just as (or more) easily.
