Click View/Show and look at the menu.Slices probably has a checkmark by it. click slices and the checkmark will go a way and so will the box you circled at the top left of your screen.

That was it! I don’t know how the heck I did that. I don’t install imageready. I use all shortcuts or menu shortcuts, It vexes me. At least that’s something in this life I don’t have to worry about. It’s just one of those things that bug the s#!t out’a me untill one day I just break down and do something about it

Hi Janie; Chances are , you accidentally touched the key for while using the brush tool or the magic wand tool. The key for it sort of looks like a knife. Look for it so you know where it is and what is next to it. Craig Flory

Its a slice number .. Images can be sliced into numerous sections for exporting into HTML. Also can be imported over into Image ready so you can add rollover links and effects.
