There are several internet sites where you can download Photoshop CS for less than $200. They allow only for downloads (no CDs) and they claim that they are cheap because THEY provide the upgrade and support. They do that not only with Photoshop CS but also with other s/w. You cannot register the Photoshop CS with Adobe, since they claim that registration is not necessary as they provide upgrade+support. One such site is <http://www.ibackups.net/> and there are others. These sites are also advertized on other forums. How legal is this?

Thanks for all info.

It’s not.

The full version of PSCS is in the $650 price range. If you are getting it for significantly less, and you are not buying an academic version, it’s most likely a pirated copy.

Adobe provides their own updates and support.

Registration isn’t necessary, but it sure is a good idea!

Bottom line, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Usually Bob edits the URL out of the message. maybe he just hasn’t see this one yet.

At any rate, It might be a good idea for Adobe to post something on their site about the cost of CS and that folk should avoid sites like the plague if they offer s/w for far less than the manufacturer.

It wouldn’t help everyone, but perhaps some.
