I am using a 4:3 20" Samsung 204T which is very accurate when calibrated with the Gretag Eye One. I’d like to get a 24" wide monitor so I have more room for the Photoshop menus on the sides and still have a good sized image on the screen.

I see that the Samsung 245BW is around $500. Anyone used this with CS3 or Lightroom? Any other suggestions for what to look at in this configuration? I’d like to stay under about $750 if I can get something that can be well calibrated in that price range.

Hi.

Why not consider getting a small cheap monitor to use alongside your Samsung, just for the tools & palettes.

With a bit of luck your graphics card may already be capable of running dual monitors. Quite a lot of the newer cards can have 1 on the DVI connector and another on the Mini D. You would only be able to calibrate your Main one, if running Windows, but the colour of the palettes is not critical.

I don’t have the desk space to support that approach. A 24" wide monitor is about the same height and 4" wider than my current 20"

The 245BW is a TN panel, I believe.
I’m afraid you would be very disappointed.

Interesting reading, and educational.

Any recommendations on IPS-type displays that don’t cost an arm and a leg? Anyone?

Thanks!

So I guess it’s the Samsung 244T. Doing any better would appear to cost twice as much.
