I recently downloaded the trail version of CS3 Extended through the Adobe site which is completly functional as I understood it.
But whatever I do, I can not open 3D objects? I did everything on what the Help files say.
But when trying it with File > Open, all I get is the message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.". And the second way to open it (With a document open, choose Layer > 3D Layers > New Layer From 3D File.) is also not possible because there is no "3D Layers" option in Layer. And yes, I am sure I did download the CS3 Extended trail 😉

The other thing is that somehow CS3 is acting up graphics wise. For example, when selecting the Move Tool the mouse pointer is flickering between the normal mouse pointer and the pointer that belongs to the Move Tool? Or moving my mouse over a layer in the Layers Menu: also there flickering between the normal mouse pointer and the Hand pointer. When I then want to select a layer, I have to click multiple times before the layer is selected? Also, the words of the upper menu (File, Edit and so on) become very ugly bold, like very bad strong anti-aliased. When I move over them, all the letter stay that ugly until I click one of the menu words.

Don’t know what this all is but for now I am not impressed with CS3.

Check out the vids about 3d on the Adobe Design center (I think that’s what it’s called; I would strongly suggest spending time on the site; a big part of the CS3 effort had to do with interactive interfaces for their web presence).

And the 3d stuff we’ve worked with during the alpha and beta processes were all internal — stuff created within Photoshop, or drawn in Illustrator as 2 or 2.5d and shaded and textured and fine-tuned in PS.

Hope this helps

Thanx for the reaction 🙂
But it’s not what I looking for. I am looking on import of OBJ, 3DS and so on in Photoshop. Besides that, I don’t have Illustrator. And I see now that I made a mistake. I did mean Photoshop CS3, didn’t know that CS3 stands for Creative Suite 3.
Did some looking around on the Adobe site and the video tutorials … guess you have to like that kind of tutorials. For me it’s more confusing then clarifying.
