Could anyone suggest a reason why I can view JPEG thumbnails in Bridge CS3 but TIFF files only appear as icons? File associations etc have been left to default settings or where changed point to Photoshop CS3. I have just installed a legitimate fully paid Photoshop CS3 Extended (Windows) and it has been an ordeal to put it mildly. I finally had success after 6 attempts and about 10 hours! Adobe offered little help but thankfully many others who experienced the same problems have detailed their methodology on the internet.

If problems arise like this its the way files have been saved.

Try opening it in PS and save again see if that will open in bridge.

I tried that and also purged folder caches as suggested elsewhere but it has made no difference. I just wonder if something was corrupted at some stage during my marathon installment adventure.

In Bridge Preferences Thumbnails there is a line that says don’t process if greater than xxx Mb. If either Tiff or Jpeg files are greater thay will not be displayed so your jpegs might me under the limit and tiffs greater. When the limit is changed (I think it starts out at 200Mb) you might have to force thumbnails to be recalculated. Opening the file in Photoshop doesn’t help this problem.

I remember that now also – which has happened to me.
