I don’t own one as I’m just now looking at buying this myself. The Samsung SyncMaster 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor, 226BW Black, has been highly recommended to me. Perhaps it will be the one for both of us.

Incidentally it is being sold at around $ 350 at numerous sites.

That’s the very one I got 6 weeks ago it’s very nice and came with some good software.

Thanks for a report from someone with experience with the Samsung. I’m about ready to pull the trigger and order one. Don’t remember anything about software included. Care to describe briefly?

you may want to look at this first

http://www.behardware.com/articles/667-1/samsung-226bw-a-and -s-series-the-verdict.html

it dates from May and so is not that up to date but there is a lot more info around.

I looked at one recently on display in PC World. Compared to the other monitors there was a very obvious blue cast to it. It may just have been set up incorrectly but it stood out like a sore thumb.

"Natural Colour Software" help users synchronize the on screen colours with printed ones. There is no need to waste papers for cumbersome colour matching.
"MagicTune" makes virtually all of the adjustments an LCD display would reasonably require, available through a WindowsXP-ish interface of quick wizards, and very user friendly adjustment consoles.

Thanks for that link John. I read it entirely and had already ordered one of the 226BW’s. I am pretty convinced that I’ll receive an "A" panel and think I’ll live with it.

I’m much better off knowing all that is in that article and its ultimate conclusion is:

"Should we regret having bought an A version and would another screen have been better? No. The 226BW, whether it’s an A or S, is still above the rest."

I suppose with the info of how to diminish the problems with blue dominance, I’ll have to play with adjustments from the get go.

OK the software part
MAGIC tune may be a conflict with radeon
since I don’t use it for color I would not install it but in order to rotate my monitor to vertical I HAVE to install it
I can use the Radeon UI to rotate but it does not rotate the mouse movement so it is not useful

OTOH it only delays the shutdown on WIN XP and has not actually crashed any program while in use.

The Samsung 226BW has been discontinued and the 226 "C"W is their latest model. I have one and I am please after calibration with Spyder2Pro.
