I’m on a Mac G4 running 10.4.10. I have Photoshop 7 as well as Elements 3. Although I suspect that the font sizes shown as available in the point or sizes menu when using the text tool would be those available on the Mac itself, when I saw the greyed-out "Other" option, I wondered as to whether it would be possible to create or manipulate things so as to have a size 7 type or point (it looks as though I’m now limited to a 6 or 8 size). If I’m right in my suspicions, is it possible to get a size 7 type or point anywhere?

Thanks for any help!
Paul

The little dropdown font size control in Elements (and probably in PhotoShop) can also be edited directly. You can type in pretty much any value you like, including non-integers.

Wow… I’m surprised Photoshop 7 runs in 10.4. That’s in the Classic environment, right?

No, Photoshop 7 was the first (I think) OSX release. Dunno about the OP, but I’m running it on a MacBook Pro. I don’t do anything really CPU-intensive with it, so I’ve never bothered to upgrade…it works fine for me.

Ah ok. I had forgotten which version got carbonized first!

Yes, PS 7 has run OK for me on 10.4.
I do not see, however, how to input a point/size choice other than the preprogrammed ones, since the "Other" choice is greyed-out. Is there anything I can do to enable that button so as to choose a size 7 font?
Thanks for the help,
Paul

Other than biting the bullet and upgrading Photoshop? Doubt it. You’re probably seeing a bug that’s long been fixed.

You don’t need to enable that button. Just click in the box where the size is and change it to the size you want. I just tried this and it worked for me.

You will find that you can enter by typing the size you want into the text field on the character palette, the sizes shown go in steps partly to save space in the list.

You can also scale the text by Edit/Transform/Scale and using the mouse. Make sure to hold the shift key down before grabbing the corner of the mouse control on screen to keep width and height proportional.
