I just recently acquired an Epson 2400 that I’m really happy with. And as long as I stick with the paper formats that are part of Photoshop, I can print to whatever medium I want. If I try, however, to use a non- standard format like 11×15, Photoshop will not let me create a custom format, nor will it honor what I have created in the advanced printer settings on the Epson. (As an FYI, I’m using Vista Ultimate, but I don’t think that’s the issue.)

Is there a solution to this, other than creating a tiff file, pulling that into Illustrator and printing it from there? I cannot believe that a software so sophisticated as Photoshop would be such a disappointment in the printing area.

Alternatively, do any of you know of any utility I can print my color prints from (I have an RIP for b&w).

THANKS.

Have you tried setting the printer for a larger print size and then printing on your 11 x 15 paper?

I find it easier, and much more flexible, to print from Thumbs Plus, rather than from PS. I also use an Epson 2400.

Hi Max!

Thanks, I’ll try that. Also, The largest PS CS2 provides, I think, is legal, which won’t cut it if I want to print on a super B format, for example. I’ll check it out.

You have to define the canvas size when you create a blank document. Instead of using the listed sizes, choose custom and define the size there. If it’s a banner you are making, when you reach the print dialogue, click the "printer" button and under paper size, choose user defined and type in the size.

Epson have an odd way of describing inches 1300 is actually 13" (the max width of your printer). I run mine with a roll of paper always in the thing. I have set the paper size to 1295 wide and 3600 long and use banner mode – save paper which will halt the printer an inch or so after the image provided you don’t feed it a blank page with the picture at the top!
