Hi,

I would like to know what caliber is Photoshop Element 2. Is it about the same caliber as Photoshop 5 or can it do more stuff. I know somebody who wants to sell his photoshop 5 for the price of Photoshop Element 2. I wonder if it is a good deal. Also, is Photoshop Element 2 much better than Picture It Pro?

Thanks,

Richard

Also, you want to make sure that the used 5.0 is something you can get transferred in to your name so that you can upgrade it. Otherwise Elements
2.0 that you buy will be upgradeable.
I’m afraid it isn’t. I tried to upgrade from Elements 1.0 to 2.0 and was told by Adobe UK that:
"Photoshop Elements has no upgrade path.
The reason being that the product itself is very cost effective. The only way to obtain v2.0, is to purchase the full product,"

I presume that 2.0 will be the same.

Well, then Adobe in the UK must be ripping you off. You can upgrade from 1 to 2 here in the US. Adobe has never stopped you from upgrading and older version to a new version of the same program. Cost effective or not.

Adobe UK is ripping people off. Along with every other software producer in the UK. You know how they translate the dollar price to sterling? 1:1. Yep, if it costs you $200 it costs us £200 (which at current exchange rates means about $325.

Which is why I know a lot of people who buy on the gray market and never register (the US version is cheaper,. but Adobe won’t support people using the US version if they live in the UK and so forth)). Again, that is true of most manufacturers. You can buy a lot cheaper on the Net, as long as you don’t mind not getting tech support. (Mind you, with people like Quark you may as well not have tech support anyway <g>).
