What’s going on?

The next day, photoshop suddenly fails to load any JPG files (BMPs seem to load OK). No matter whether via Open Dialog or by drag’n’drop, if I open a JPG, nothing happens. No error message, nothing. The file just won’t open.

Any guesses?

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

– 6000 x 4500 px

Same suggestion. Photoshop is a Graphic Editor *not* graphic viewer, so when it refuses to load some (I am pretty sure *not* all) format then the chance that there may be something wrong with the file.

– It’s either damaged

– renamed from other format *or* may not be the original format

Or Photoshop needs to know the *exact* format in order to EDIT *not* just for displaying.

None of the JPGs seem to open anymore. They open with windows native viewer, though.

The files are perfectly ok and unaltered. I think it’s some photoshop setting gone wrong somehow, but which?

file association is assigned to win fax viewer
to change it right click any jpeg
choose open with
CHOOSE form list tick the box that says always open with

not a good idea to open ps every time you need to preview a jpg slowwwww

And what do you really mean Photoshop won’t open? Photoshop refuses to open and reports ERROR?

Photoshop is graphic editor it will open all formats it supports so there is no setting. How about giving some more detail instead of "it won’t work" which won’t help to solve the problem. Like

– What does Photoshop report when you try to open JPG?

– Try to SAVE other format as JPG then try to open that specific JPG you saved with Photoshop. And give little more detail than "Photoshop won’t open"

I deleted the D3DXTextureFormat- plug-in and the JPG’s started to show again. Thanks for the suggestions.
