I’ve never built a PC before, nor needed to know what’s in one, hence this question. Would a Radeon 9200SE do well as a 2D card for use in a single monitor photoshop PC? I get the impression just about anything will do for 2D these days.

Thanks!

Hey, snickering-one, we’re talking 2D quality here. That’s signal quality for the monitor, resolution flexibility in
multi-monitor-setups, color precision, not your usual more fps on gaming cards.

There you still find an advantage on Matrox cards over most of the market.

Who is talking gaming? An nVidia 5950 FX Ultra card matches or exceeds the 2D quality of any matrox card out there…

Can you tell me which model you refer to so i can check it out?

Thanks

A simple matrox card will do 2d well, how high up is the nvidea 5950 fx ultra and how much does it cost? When it comes to consumer level 3d cards its a two horse race with ati and nvidia but doing serious work with 2d and video editing then your on matrox turf until you get to spend over

You can get a very good nvidia or ati card for about 150 bucks that does awesome 2d graphics, I used to use matrox cards but they just kept dropping the ball as newer cards came out from different companies..

bout the best thing going for matrox was dual monitor support at affordable prices back then, but now any decent card has at least a dual output.. great for when you need to keep from jumping in and out of a 2d image you are working on when you need something else.

There is a difference between dual monitor support having both monitors in the same resolution (what several cards can do) or having each monitor at a different resolution and this not only in clone mode.
