Hey, all.

Using CS2.

I have an image of a young girl dressed in an angel costume. She’s leaning over as if whispering to someone.

I want to layer that onto an image of another person (closeup of their ear), to portray an ‘angel on the shoulder’ kind of image.

For the layer with the girl, I want to provide a luminescent glow, similar to the kind of thing Tinkerbell gives off.

I’ve mucked a bit with gaussian blur layers, but I haven’t found the formula for the luminescent glow I’m looking for.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks!!

That’s exactly what blending outer, inner is all about. Change the glow, actually I think the glow comes with a perfect semi transparent golden yellow as a default. then muck around till you have the perfect color for a glow if that isn’t the one you want.

You’d take JUST the little girl as her own layer [magic lasso-copy to layer]. change to that layer, right click layer – blending options and it’s right there at the very top. outer glow.

I have never done any Tinkerbell but what you describe is very basic or you just need an actived mind and few basic commands should do.

– Same as adding another person to the image, you can add another LAYER with just about any effect you can come up with.

– Then you can use the combination of few basic commands like Quick Mask, Layers, Erase Tool, Paint Brush etc.. to control the effect. Multiple layers if needed, and that’s about all you need.

IOW, by reading your message I see that you want to add the glow effect around the Tinkerbell, and you can do the similar using LAYER with combination of Quick Mask, Erase tool, Paint Brush etc..

Also, I believe CS2 has built-in glow plug-in

Thanks!!
