I have heard that there are issues regarding Businesses using Academic software. I’m trying to fully understand exactly what these laws say. Can anyone direct me to the exact reading of this law? I would like to read it for myself so that I know for sure. Some people are saying that it is a US Law, while others are saying it’s a law from the individuals.

Either way, I want to be sure I don’t go out and get something I can’t use. If you could direct me to the exact reading or wording I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Limitations of Academic Versions of Windows XP:

— For noncommercial, educational use only.
— For qualified educational users only.
— Non-upgradeable to the next Windows O/S.
— Non-transferable.
— Has installation support only.
— Has a non-perpetual license that is tied to the eligibility of the user. (If a user is no longer a student or educator, the license is no longer valid)

Your right to use the Academic version of Windows XP ends when you no longer meet the criteria for using the Academic version of XP.

If you do not meet the above criteria, then you cannot use the Academic Version of Windows XP.

Thank you. So is this a part of the agreement of the licence of some US law?

The Licence wording is used throughout the World, the law on copywrite is not US specific, thus is enforceable in whatever country you are in.
