Help to draw 90 degree arc

Can someone help me I am trying to draw a 90% arc, I have been trying with the pen tools/anchor points etc but I am all over the place, also when I do get something that resembles an arc how do I save it as it disappears when I save and re open the drawing.

Make a circle with your Ellipse (vector shape) tool, and hold shift to make it a perfect circle. Press CTRL + T to fool Photoshop into thinking you’re going to change its size. Instead, drag two guides, one horizontal and one vertical, to the center point and press ESC or Enter. Switch to the Convert Point tool and select half the circle, snapping to the guide. Delete this and now you have half a circle. Do it again and you have your arc.

However, if you want a full "quarter of a pie," you will need to skip the last step and instead, drag an "end" anchor point to the place where the two guides intersect. Then drag the direction point back to the anchor point to eliminate the direction line.

Another idea is to create a perfect circle and then use your pen tool to copy the arc.

Create a new layer , use ellipse tool with shift for circle. Go to edit,stroke and set size of line, (will be foreground color). Now you have a circle , erase what you don’t want.
Edit-free transform , with shift, to get size .Rotate with transform or free transform to angle you want . Move where you want.

For me this has the advantage of once you make your shape (square ircle ) you can move it exactly where you need it ,and it is size adjustable, before merging , flattening layers.
