My File>Open command freezes when I’m trying to open files NOT in default folder i.e. My Photos. The only way I can open my photo files in Photoshop is through Browse.
any thoughts on how I can fix this? Reinstalling is not an option.

I use Photoshop 7.0.1

Might be that one of the images you’re trying to preview is damaged, and when PS tries to read the thumbnail is locks up – I’ve seen this happen before (in PhotoShop CS). Check that you can view the thumbnails (or images) in something else.
